Dr. Hanna, one of the founders of Troup, Texas, built the Erasmus M. Hanna House about 1872. Besides his medical practice, Dr. Hanna was an investor in the East Texas Railroad. His other business interest included the first hotel in Troup. His wife, Virginia Morris Hanna, was the daughter of East Texas pioneers Judge & Mrs. Stephen Decatur Morris. Five generations of Hanna descendants have lived in the Hanna House. Over 50 years ago, Lillie Langston Bugg lived in this house. She was the aunt of Willie Dixon Langston. Willie was the grandfather of Deborah Lovett Burkett, the current owner of this historical home.
