Friends of the Library
Organized in 1992, the Friends of the Troup Library (FOL) have two major
purposes: to promote the development of the Library as an educational and
cultural asset to Troup and to raise and receive funds for the benefit of the
Library. Membership is open to all that wish to strengthen the Troup Municipal
Library. Annual activities include the summer reading program, the Composition
Competition, the fall luncheon and silent auction, the development and
implementation of the new technology plan, public programs, and special
projects.
Joint Projects of the Friends of the Troup Library
and the Troup Genealogical/Historical Society
The Troup Genealogical/Historical Society and the Friends of the Troup Library
have worked together and are continuing to work together on several projects. In
1999 they presented the multifaceted Troup Goes to War: World War II project. It
included a dinner with a program by Troup veterans; a historical exhibit; and a
book. The organizations continue to sell the book, which contains over 200
photographs and almost 300 entries. Currently, they are working on a history of
Troup and a series of historical exhibits, including this one
